Our website is where we put all of our content. This is where views can see stories from each and everyone one of our staff members from the current year and years prior. The first year our website aired, it won a Cornhusker award. In addition, our website has won many SNO awards such as Best of SNO, Site Excellence and Multimedia.
Social Media is how we stay connected with the community. Our journalism department has both an Instagram a Twitter. This is how we share our stories with our peers. Without social media, I do not believe that us student-journalists would get the acknowledgments we deserve. Recently, our cartoonist wrote a review over a country artist’s album. The artist ended liking the tweet. How cool is it that so many people are reading and watching our stories all through social media.
One quality that makes the Millard West Journalism Department special is that we live stream our home games. Our staff announces and produces games for anyone to watch. STRIV is the service we use to reach these audiences who are not able to see the game in person. I remember my junior year I had a Cross Country meet in Norfolk the same day as the Millard West V. Millard South game. Of course, the team and I didn’t want to miss the game, so we watched through STRIV. Live streaming has helped family, friends and those in the community be able to never miss a game.
